Presidential Decree for Deraya University Issued

President Mubarak has signed and ratified the Presidential Decree (#91/2010) required for the official launch and operation of Deraya University in Egypt. Deraya's decree authorizes it to provide both undergraduate and graduate-level education to Egyptians and foreigners through multiple campuses across Egypt, and equates the University's academic degrees to those offered by Egyptian public universities. President Mubarak approves Deraya's license

President Mubarak has approved Deraya University's license to operate during a meeting with the Egyptian government's education leadership. The announcement was made by H.E. Ahmed Nazif on television on August 31st, 2009, and was carried on the front-pages of Al-Ahram and Al-Akhbar on September 1st, 2009.

The Futures Educational Systems (FES) corporation, spearheaded by Dr. Hassan Al-Kalla, has joined the Deraya team as an investor. FES is one of the region's largest networks of K12 schools and features more than 15 campuses and 13,000 students throughout Egypt. Deraya holds its first Board of Trustees Meeting

In a memorable evening at the Four Seasons Nile Plaza Hotel in Cairo, Deraya University held its first Board of Trustees meeting. In attendance were all of Deraya’s cofounders, its Board of Trustees and a number of external consultants. The purpose of the agenda was to finalize the Deraya concept in terms of academic and engineering plans.

AALE joins the Deraya Team
