Four faculties will be launched in Phase 1 of Deraya: the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Business, the Faculty of Pharmacy and the Faculty of Nursing. Phases 2 and 3 will feature 6 additional faculties that will bring in additional depth and flexibility to the Deraya experience.
- Engineering was selected given its regional popularity and its strategic importance as a discipline with potentially far-reaching economic consequences. The Faculty of Engineering will include programs in architecture, construction, computer science and industrial engineering.
- Business was chosen due to the lack of high-quality business programs for undergraduate students in Upper Egypt. The Faculty of Business will feature programs in management, finance, accounting, and commercial law.
- Pharmacy was selected given the popularity of this discipline within Upper Egyptian society. Pharmacy also brings in an additional layer of depth to Deraya’s academics by affording students with medicinal aspirations the opportunity to enroll. The Faculty will include programs in pharmacology and toxicology. The Faculty of Nursing was envisoned as a natural complement to the Faculty of Pharmacy - it promises to capitalize on the inherent academic synergies inherent in both.
